She/her
Hello! I’m Anya, a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC), with a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from Portland State University and a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Lewis and Clark College. I center my work on anti-racist, anti-bias, and equitable counseling practices. I am a native Oregonian, raised by a Mexican-American mother and a white father.
I specialize in grief. That means I sit with people in the most tender, messy, and human parts of life. Grief isn’t just about death; it can be about endings, transitions, identity shifts, and even the loss of who we thought we’d be. In the thick of grief, joy can feel impossible, but I believe laughter, sarcasm, and celebration can live right alongside tears and sorrow. My therapy room is often full of it all – the noise and the quiet, the heartbreak and the humor.
My approach is rooted in narrative and relational therapy. I believe the stories we carry shape how we see ourselves and the world, and together we can explore, question, and even rewrite the ones that no longer serve us. Therapy with me is collaborative and relational. I see healing as something that happens in connection, not in isolation. I also integrate expressive arts practices when helpful, because sometimes creativity can give voice to feelings that words alone cannot capture.
As a queer therapist, my identity is an important part of the lens I bring into the therapy room. I know how powerful it is to sit with someone who “gets it”, someone who can hold space for the joys, complexities, and challenges of living as a queer person. I feel deeply drawn to supporting queer clients as they navigate identity, relationships, community, and the systemic pressures that shape our lives. My goal is to create a space where you can show up fully as yourself, feel affirmed, and explore what authenticity, resilience, and liberation look like for you.
