Sophia Treyger, LPCShe/Her

Thank you for showing up for yourself! It takes strength and courage to seek out help. We are not meant to live this life alone. You have a beautiful brain and nervous system that have helped you survive. With trust and practice, you can create new neural pathways in your brain that increase your capacity to cope with life’s challenges. Healing is possible through gradual and gentle awareness, skill-building, and the support of a warm and caring community.

I believe the key to healing is safety and curiosity. When you feel safe, your body and mind’s natural ability to heal kicks in. I collaborate with you to identify your strengths, foster healthy habits, and cultivate meaningful intimate connections. You deserve to heal and to have a supportive and nurturing team to aid in your healing journey while guiding you toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.

In our sessions, I provide a non-judgmental and compassionate environment while gently guiding you toward your own inner and outer resources. I weave into our sessions spirituality (the sense of gratitude, awe, or wonder), creativity (music, poetry, and writing), art, literature, movement, breath, mindfulness, and evidence-based practices such as EMDR. I honor and respect your whole being and bring a lifetime of both clinical and life experiences to our therapeutic relationship. I currently work primarily with women 18+ and couples.

I have been a helping professional since I was 19 years old. I began my career working with children on the autism spectrum. Then I shifted my focus to adults. I graduated with an MS in Couple and Family Therapy in 2006. I’ve worked in outpatient psychiatry building relationships with many different kinds of marginalized clients suffering from severe mental illness, addiction, and complex trauma. My greatest joy was spending time with my clients learning about who they were as humans, not clinical cases or diagnoses. I helped clients access their inner wise selves through spirituality, creativity, leadership, movement, breath, meditation, and genuine connection with themselves and others. I am also a certified yoga teacher.

I find the most joy and serenity in nature. I am an avid hiker and camper. I love hitting the water on my paddleboard. I am a dancer, singer, songwriter, memoirist, and poet. I am deeply grateful for the love, support, hugs, and encouragement of my friends, family, and community. Without them, life would indeed be very lonely.
